A friend told me about salmonberries. When chatting about the berry, we found lots of cool images. I picked the image below, a photo of someone holding salmonberries. Full transparency, illustrating hands, is hard, so I knew this design would be a challenge. I wanted to learn more about the connection between Indigenous people and these berries. I am from eastern Washington, and we often forage for huckleberries, among many other plants, like bitterroot.
